In-room dining
For those that just want to lock themselves away from the world for an evening, we offer an in-room dining option.

Choose from a delicious selection of mains, fresh seasonal vegetables and tempting desserts, served directly in your suite and removed discreetly when you’ve finished. We need 24 hours notice for dining, so please inquire when booking.

Buffet Dinner Party
Very popular for ‘Whole of Villa’ or booking of 2 couples, our ‘buffet dinner party’ allows you to enjoy the dining room to yourself for the evening, with a delicious selection of main course and desserts to enjoy at your leisure. Dinner is arranged at an hour to suit, and you can retire the the guest lounge to relax afterwards, whilst the villa pixies quietly take care of everything else!

Private Evening Dining for Two
Moon Gate offers private evening dining for those that wish to celebrate a special occasion, or perhaps experience a night ‘solo’ as a special treat during extended travelling.

Created by your private chef for the evening, dinner is served overlooking our gardens on the terrace in the warmer weather, or next to our flickering fireplace in cooler weather. Special tastes and dietary requirements can be catered for, and dishes are prepared from local, seasonal produce where possible.

Soft candlelight, and the best beds in the Bay of Islands are right down the atrium hallway – all making for a very special, relaxing evening indeed.

We need advanced notice to arrange a private dinner, so if you think you’d enjoy a very special dining experience during your stay, we suggest you discuss this when making a booking.

Breakfasts are included in all our room rates. Lionel prides himself on using fresh, local produce when seasons permit. His poached eggs, sourced from local free range chickens are becoming legendary. Villa guests enjoy a buffet of fresh fruit, continental cheese and sliced meats or fresh croissants and jams as well as a traditional cooked breakfast.

Villa guests breakfast in the Villa dining room, overlooking the terrace and gardens (or on the terrace in warmer weather). We don’t like to disturb our Cottage guests, so we provide them with a continental basket of breakfast goodies the evening before.

Dining around Kerikeri
Kerikeri probably boasts more great restaurants per head of population than anywhere else in New Zealand. The locals are just as appreciative of the fine produce and wines from the area as our visitors. Most of our guests staying at Moon Gate Villa enjoy exploring the local eateries – the day time cafe culture, and the superb culinary choices in the evening. Thai, Indian, Japanese, Italian, Middle Eastern, and contemporary cuisines are all nearby.
